My school purchased 10 of these last year and I use them with all grades k-8. They are easy to move around the building as needed, either on a cart or by hand. I really appreciate that they have all of the keys, rather than just being keyed in C. Great for older students learning whole and half steps, building scales, etc. without needing a larger instrument to understand the concept. Great instrument for the price tag!

I purchased 20 for a public library. They have been used by hundreds of people over the past year. The glockenspiel itself is fairly sturdy and has a lovely tone.
A few mallets broke after repeated abuse but luckily each glockenspiel comes with 2 mallets and, as amateurs, we are playing with only one for the most part. The foam padding beneath the sharps in a couple of the glockenspiels came loose but that is fixable. Considering how many people of all ages and abilities have used them, I would say they have done quite well.

I'm going to preface this veiw with the fact I only first used a glockenspiel for the first time 2 days before buying this.
I bought this because I had one week to learn God Save the Queen on the bell lyre (marching glockenspiel) to teach a cadet. This Glock has the exact same range as my students Glock, so I bought it @ 11pm on online and picked it up the next day.
It's built into its carry case, which is ugly to look at but makes this incredibly sturdy for a non professional Glock. I wouldn't worry over much about bumping it into things, although you should probably avoid dropping it if you can. It comes with plastic mallets the same colour as the case, do-ray-me stickers you could apply, and the notes ingraved of they keys. I personally find the plastic mallets to bendy and intended to purchase a better pair later.
Overall the sound was very nice. It was properly tuned and well put together. The foam piping cushioning the keys is only held on by glue though. Mine was out of place in one spot so I repositioned it back into place with a pencil. The clips on the plastic case are a little flimsy, but one gets what they paid for.
This isn't the kind of instrument you play in an orchestra. This is a beginner's tool to practice with that comes at a cheap enough price that when one of the cadets accidentally breaks it won't be to difficult to replace. It's great for people starting out or advanced players who want something portable. And boy is it portable. It weighs so little my 5 year old sister made off with it when I was eating supper. It weighs less than 5lbs.
I would recommend this to anyone who wants to give the glockenspiel a try.

I went to Long and Mc Quade to pay money on my account..as usual, i go walking around before i pay , to see what else i might add to the tab..i go over to the xylophone display, mess around a bit, then i spot on the shelf in the same section, a cute $25 Glockenspiel built into a little plastic carrying case..originally intended for my 7 year old daughter, this quickly became mine, once i brought it home..she still finds my i pad way cooler:(..anyways, her loss..You will be very happy with this $25 purchase. Makes a great gift..to my fellow glockenspielers..Rock on!
