The all-tube Traynor YBA300 300-watt bass head has been designed from the ground up to be the ultimate high-power head for the working musician. Built for unmatched reliability in real world heavy-use touring environments, the designers of the YBA300 understand how important it is to make sure your amp is ready for action every night.

Reliability
Highly effective and straightforward tube bias adjust with clear and concise LED display ensure any player can easily adjust pairs of the YBA300's power tubes without fear. LED indicators on the rear of the amp show proper tube function and status. In rare cases where a tube may fail, the YBA300 will lock out the problem tube and its partner, allowing the amp to finish the show on the remaining active tubes. LED display clearly shows which tube needs service.

Versatility
The stock YBA300 ships with twelve hand-selected and tested 6L6 power tubes, delivering a truly classic hi-fi smooth tube tone. For players looking for a more aggressive bass sound, the stock 6L6 tubes can be easily changed to any high quality EL34 tube set and be rebiased in the field, making the YBA300 essentially two amps in one versatile chassis.

Simple controls make it easy to dial in virtually any bass tone.
The Traynor YBA300 is made in Canada using solid plywood cabinet construction, heavy gauge steel chassis, high quality pots and jacks and is covered by Yorkville Sound's two-year unlimited warranty*.

Purchased one used through L&M. Only issue I've had is the standby switch needs to be replaced, otherwise solid. What do you expect from a switch? I bought it used and I have put time on it weekly. I paired it with the Traynor 8x10 fridge. Perfect combo. It is like floating on bass notes. Whatever you ask from it, it'll do. 4.5 on features because it delivers everything you want a powerful tube head to deliver but it doesn't get fancy about it. Just a couple more tone shaping options would be fun but I'm in the camp of unnecessary.

This was sold to for a steal from an L&M location and everything people say about it is true. Easy to dial in a good tone, and although it's very clean for a tube rig, it sounds very warm and full. The tone does saturate at higher gain, but it's totally different from the 200. You have to use hot pickups and turn the gain to max (while keeping the master down, unless you want to break some windows) to get a really noticeable saturation, but at a little past 5 or 6 on the gain, and there is some subtle warming of the one for sure. That the thing that's great about this amp: for all it's might, it's very graceful and smooth. The EQ is not drastic and the "tonal shift" buttons are also fairly subtle. I found that the "Deep" setting added some unwanted noise to the signal, but I didn't really like what it did to the sound. I can see why someone looking for a more modern sound would use this setting, but in that case why use a tube amp at all? Maybe I would have liked it without the noise. Regardless of not using the "Deep" setting, the bass is absolutely massive on this thing, just like the 200. I generally keep the bass down as otherwise it overpowers the other frequencies. Having the headroom is great though, and obviously at big show you would appreciate the powerful lows, especially if there was limited PA support (ie weak subwoofers on the PA/a sound tech who high passes your direct signal haha). I'm using the TC412 cab with it and I have to say they make a great combo. With the mid dialed in right, it has pretty much the best tone of any amp I've played. The ampegs that I played on always seemed to be a bit muddier than the traynor amps, but that's just been my experience. Ampegs definitely sound good for some styles too, it just depends what you want. Another thing, the made in Canada build quality and having a local amp tech at L&M who can certainly deal with any issues that arise with the amp are reassuring. I've gone a little overboard but I own and have owned many Traynor amps and I feel pretty confident in saying that they make the best bass amps, bar none. I've tried every brand, and while there is obviously other good stuff, none of it compares to Traynor if you consider the surprising price differences between their stuff and other companies making similar products. This particular unit was only $799, so keep your eyes peeled and you might score as well. Definitely worth full price though. Once I decided to buy a full wattage tube head *poof, one appeared marked way down. Funny how stuff works like that.

So a long time ago when I was in high school I played in the Jazz band. I had the Yorkville Bloc 150 combo amp. As my first amp I loved the parametric eq. And fell in love with 15 inch speakers. That amp was super heavy and hard to gig with the single handle on top. Fast forward 25 years and I feel like I am missing having bass guitar in my life. Picking it up again. I was using an old Traynor YGA-1 I have as an amp to practice into the Traynor Darkhorse 2x12 cabinet. I really appreciate and enjoy the sound and feel of Traynor amps!. I enjoy these for guitar use too! But this set up is not ideal for not the set up for bass. I really felt like I was missing the punch at the low frequencies of the bass guitar. And the presence a 15" speaker can give. So after some reading I discovered the YBA-300. And then my local store had it in stock!! Now I have one. And it is everything I was missing and sounds so good. I really like how the YBA-300 has the vintage tone controls, with the center frequency adjust for the mid. So it is pretty close to the parametric equalisation I am used to having as well. I got the TC115 cabinet at this time. Mostly because I was looking for that 15 inch speaker response I was used to. But also the really awesome 8x10 cab that pairs with this. well. its a little too big for my needs as a basement dad musician. But I plan to use this for my baritone scale guitar too. The TC115 cabinet is super portable and surprisingly lighter than the amp head. I never had a real tube amp for bass before. So all this is just very exciting for me I should probably stop, there is probably some limit of what you can write here.

I love the tone and power of this amp! At the weight and price this is the best amp I've ever owned. I have it paired with the TC 412 and love what I hear. Solid amp and it's Canadian made. It just doesn't get any better!

I've been using this amp for six months now so I believe I have a food understanding of it's features and performance. It is, hands down, the best sounding amp I have ever played. I have gone through a lot of different amps trying to find "that" tone. I play it strictly through Traynor TC412 cab. There is tone and headroom for days! Crank the gain for tube overdrive and watch faces melt. If you use the master volume and keep the gain low the amp fills the room with warm, thump and punch. I run this amp with a small pedal board in the chain and it never gets dull. It is the amp I hoped it was and more! Tough, durable, and it looks awesome. Especially, when the nice glow of tubes shows through the grill. This is a NEVER SELL amp.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
