Classic 12-String with Mahogany Neck

The Songmaker DR-212 is a true 12-string acoustic guitar with the big sound and fine engineering you expect from Epiphone. The Songmaker DR-212 features a Select Spruce top with scalloped bracing, Mahogany back, sides and neck.

The Songmaker DR-212 was designed to take the stress of extra strings and not just support the spruce top but provide the proper bracing so what you hear is a balanced, cutting, and attention-getting tone. The 12-string dreadnought has often been thought of as the classic-go to guitar for blues, folk, rock, country, and everything in-between. (Previously called DR-212)

I am a lifelong Gibson and Epiphone player but went in to shop for a twelve string completely unbiased. I ended up purchasing this model after researching and testing several higher end Taylors, Martins, Ovations, and Taks in my local L&M store. I kept coming back to this model as the resonance and sustain seemed to be the same or better in comparison to the other brands mentioned without the need for a pickup or electronics. The price ultimately was the deciding factor as the value for the quality is unbeatable. The neck plays smoothly, it sounds fantastic, chimey and alive, its well balanced, it tunes and holds tune well, and it has a fairly good finish for this price point. I have been playing it constantly since getting it home and wish I would have purchased this years ago. If you want a really good acoustic 12 and are budget minded, this might also be the one for you. I didn't give five stars as it's still a fresh purchase, and another month or two of playing it will dictate how it's held up to longer term usage and acclimation.

I got this guitar as a birthday present when they first came out in late 2012 early 2013, and it has been a wicked twelver to play and like $180 at the time! That was the cheapest 12 string I had ever seen!!! Having learned on a 12 it was hard to pick a guitar but I have known Epiphone to have the occasional Diamond in the ruff....This guitar is great, just make sure you try it out a fair bit before you buy it, my Epiphone DR-212 for wont be the same as yours for instance my pickgaurd is black where as most of the new ones have tortoise shell. The only downfall I have found is the Nut corners are sharp and you can hurt yourself pretty bad if you are sliding up the neck quickly.

Owned this guitar for just over 3 years. Nice player, which is why I chose it over other models. At the 3 year mark, just after I decided that extending the warranty was no longer necessary, the sound board warped, the bridge lifted and the finish on the soundboard cracked. On inspection determined that the bridge block (only 1/32 inch ply) let go. When I was able to remove it, there were only 5 small drops of glue used to hold it in. POOR manufacturing technique. Fortunately I was able to build a sturdier block and with proper glue and clamping I have a usable guitar again, with no loss of sound.

I just got this guitar 1 month ago and it has been a great 12 string. After i got this guitar i went back to the guitar store and compered my 12 string vs a 1000$ 12 string and they played the same to me.

Great Value at $180! Sounds Great, haven't had any issues with mine except it doesn't hold it's tuning very long. Other than that, a great bang for your buck.

Perfect for someone who is looking to add a twelver to their collection. Had to make some minor filing adjustments to some of the high frets to eliminate buzzing (this is easy) but other than that top marks. No pick ups or else it would be full marks!

Decent tone, intonation very good, some buzzing here and there. Haven't strung it up with heavier strings yet, but should be manageable. Feels solid and doesn't feel like the top will sink or the neck will break. I would prefer it a little wider at the nut, but that's a matter of taste. Not a stage instrument, but for most people who just want a 12 string in their collection this is good value.

It's not the store's fault, but this is probably one of the worst guitars I have ever played. My Low E is constantly snapping on me, I get shoulder pains from playing it too long, and it doesn't shape a woman's body properly. Next time I'll shell out for a better brand.

Performance Warranty Banner

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
  • Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
  • Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
  • No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
  • Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
  • Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
  • Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
  • Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
  • Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
  • Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.

Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.

Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:

  • NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
  • USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
  • GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
  • BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
