Designed from the ground up to deliver maximum performance, clarity and accuracy for home or project studios, the new Yorkville YSM Series powered monitors are priced to suit virtually any engineers budget.
Contoured MDF baffle housing the high quality custom soft dome tweeters and low frequency woofers used in the new YSM Series monitors are designed to minimize reflections improving phase response and providing a wider sweet spot in the listening position. Front facing ports used in the YSM Series monitor design solve the issues of bass coupling with back walls and corners which general false low frequency information in your mix, a common issue with competitive monitors that choose to use rear firing ports.
Compatible with virtually any source Yorkville YSM Series monitors have a widely variable input trim control for the balanced XLR / 1/4-inch combi-jack input capable of handling level from everything from computer soundcard and mixer outs. Four position high and low frequency trim controls (at -2, -1, 0 and +1.5dB) allow user adjustable EQ contour to compensate for speaker placement in less than perfect listening spaces.
Rock-solid 3/4-inch MDF cabinet construction with heavy internal bracing and ample internal dampening material reduces unwanted low frequency rumble ensures Yorkville YSM Series cabinets reproduce source material with near pinpoint accuracy and detail.

I just bought these speakers used and let me tell you they sound better then most new speakers that are the same price. Great separation and great high and low control. Not too mention I was given the 3 month warranty on them.

I finally bought a pair of these monitor speakers and oh my, what a difference. Until now I used a high quality set of Hi-Fi headphones with amp simulator software (AmpliTube and THU). Making the patches sound good took a lot of adjusting and fiddling around, pure presets never sounded good.
This is all over now. Preset patches now sound great without having to make any adjustments, thanks to the studio monitors. I did not think they would make such a difference, was I wrong.
I have no comparison to other models, but for now rate those highly, they look good, sound great and seem to be well made. Added a lot of value to my rig.

They sound great. I have very high end reference speakers in parallel and these hold their own. Maybe a slight quality issue. One stopped working. Warranty fixed asap.

I'm not going to get into the KRK's , the Yamahas, the Focals, etc etc! I could write an essay on what I've been learning and what I think about studio monitors. I'm just going to tell you why the YM6's work for me, and all though I am going to make a monitor upgrade soon, I decided Im going to keep my YSM's aswell and the reason is not just how they sound, it's that I KNOW them! And if you dont already know, the biggest thing about monitors more that the sound and quality(all though sound obviously matters) is that you KNOW the insides and outs of how YOUR monitors sound and translate! I would rather mix on a pair of YSM 6's that I know rather than a 20,000 dollar pair of 6" monitors that I don't know at all! Anyway lol , the YSM6
- I love that they have High and Low Frequency adjustments, very helpful especially being in a less than ideal space. The manual gives tips on how to adjust based on if there in corners or against a wall beaide the monitors!
Also , if lets say you have them fine tuned roughly, you can do some mixes and if you find they are translating on the side of to trebly , you could go back and turn the treble up 1 or until you feel its translating more evenly!
- My mixes always translate very well on everyt source I play them on.
-Great low end response, not sluggish or muddy, a tad hyped , maybe
0.5-1db in the lows around 60-140HZ but I account that to the front loaded woofers. Any speaker with front loaded woofers is usually going to be a tad hyped! Again, back to knowing YOUR monitors, it's not so much of a problem as long as you know thats how they are and you take it into account! Since were on the subject of frequency , there is a very slight dip in the low mids , maybe 0.5 db somewhere between 250-600hz. But very slight. Nothing like another brannd(KoughRK) that are super attenuated in the low mids!
- the High end is very smooth and clear, never harsh. I can go pretty long without ear fatigue! If anything , they leave something to be desired past 15K.
- Can mix without a sub although they leave abit to be desired in detail below 45HZ.
Final Thought's- Can't go wrong with these. Very Flat conpared to other monitors that are much more hyped in the High's or Low's. The high and low adjust are a huge factor in why these work well! If you're spending $400-800 for a pair , forget it , these are it! But no, I know monitors are subjective but these have done an amazing job for me!!! These actually have a place in my heart and have helped see me off at the beginning of my jorney. Next exit- Barefoots or PMC's.???

Short version- Looks good. Sounds good. Priced good. Basically the important stuff ranks highly.
Long version- Review posted after 2 years of ownership. Added a pair of YSM8's one year later, and a sub hooked up to Scarlett 18i20 for 4.1 sorround sound. When I play guitar through this (and Kemper + Art pro-Mpa II) frankly it sounds better than studio albums!
When I was in the store I tried out all the monitors in the under $500 price range and Yorkville sounded the best. 6? sounded punchier on bass, 8'sounded heavier. Eventually I got both but 6? best to start. I have a bedroom studio, with 6 and 8 string guitars and bass and I find this set up works great in terms of sound and apartment neighbour friendly.
If I were to play live, all I gotta do is play in the mixer direct and sub-in PA's instead of studio monitors. My story is odd-ball perhaps, but these are unconventional times :) I cant see going back to a conventional combo amp after this, and they great for mixing afterwards. Plus, they sound the best and yet are in the affordable range (YSM6, YSM8) for hobbyist musicians
After 2 years, I can still say highly recommended!

I bought a pair of these on April 28th and my saga began. First the two I got had the kevlar part of the woofer peeling off its backing. The next ones had mismatched woofer surrounds and two different tweeter stiffneses. The next ones, one had a bit of the kevlar peeling off, again, and the other had the inside of the speaker where the bass port is unpainted! I talked to Yorkville. They switched suppliers for these recently. Do not buy 411XXX and 412XXX serial number YSMs. You will regret it. A decent sounding studio monitor though, I have to say. Pretty decent fidelity. Impressive mids for the price. But don't buy them right now.

I bought YSM6's a few days ago. I am using an ARCAM rPAC DAC and an unbalanced RCA to 1/4" TS connection to the monitors. These monitors, once they break in, sound very good. I have the low frequencies turned up a notch because I enjoy bass and these speakers have very clean, tight low end. In fact, everything about them is very tight. Sound is layered, detailed, and "thick". What I mean by that is that all the frequencies coming out of the monitors have body to them. Almost like you could reach out and wrap your hand around them. The higher frequencies and midrange don't sound paper thin like they do on some speakers and headphones. I would wholeheartedly recommend these to anybody looking for decent monitors. They really are worth every penny of the asking price. The reviews don't lie. If you buy these, you won't be disappointed.

Picked up a pair last month during the blowout sale and when I got them into my listening environment was pleasantly surprised by the overall tonal balance and quality. Amazing bass response and non-fatiguing high-end. The specified frequency response is 50Hz - 20kHz but they solidly produce substantially deeper bass tones. I haven't done much mixing on them as yet and thus can't comment from experience on how well they translate to other systems but I'm very optimistic. Special thanks to Hiro and Igor @ the North York location for helping me choose the right monitors for my setup. Great service!

Just four hours ago I bought YSM6. The reason I went to store was generaly find my chances with slowly dying my Rokit 8 Mk2 monitors. Repair or buy new pair? Well costly repair was beaten by Armands [store asociate] recomendation. I had proximate research on internet quality/price bracker about $200. Basicly at Laval store was mostly lined up all monitors I wanna hear and compare. [Rokit 8Mk3, Adam F5, Tanoy 402] but honestly newer think of Yorkville. Wow what a clear and bass responsive sound!! Absolutely big improovement compare what I was used to listen. Absolutely worth it I spend couple bucks over my budget. I'm sure they will serve me for my Home composing and mixing.
YSM6 strongly recomended.
Vlad [retired pro-bass player....bass frequences are still floating in my blood but for more than decade I enjoy settle down and have family and music just in my Home studio...haha]

Using for both home & home-studio use. Love the clarity and vocal presence. Very good bass for such a small driver (as good as many 8"). A bit lacking on some material requiring deep bass so for my use I will be adding the YSS2- but check them out yourself b4 thinking you need the sub!

I use these in a studio-setting for mixing/tweaking the audio mix for video production. Love them! Best clarity I have ever hear for a <$250 speaker for sure. They go nice and loud (and even decently deep with the 6" cone), so I tend to watch movies in my studio, or hook the YSM6's up to a spare set of power/input cables that live attached to my big screen for movies on the couch.
Beware, you won't want to listen to audio on anything else. Your iPod dock, car stereo, surround sound system, etc., will sound so muffled and muddy compared to the clarity in these.
All-in-all, a great buy! I don't regret them a single bit, and have no complaints AT ALL.
[Shale @ the Victoria, BC store was a great help in choosing them too]

Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty
A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturer’s defect. With an important purchase such as a musical
instrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.
Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturer’s warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete “no hassle” warranty coverage within their first year.
How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers' warranties?
Performance Guarantee: Normal wear and tear is covered, so your product will be performing as well as the day you purchased it for the entire duration of the coverage. Band and Orchestral Performance Warranty does not include replacing pads or cleaning for woodwind instruments, unless deemed necessary by our repair staff. Ultrasonic cleaning for brass instruments will be provided if deemed necessary by our repair staff, but is not routinely offered under the Performance Warranty.
Product Replacement: If your product cannot be fixed or costs too much to fix, we will replace it with the equivalent model for no additional charge. If this is not possible, a full refund will be provided.
No Lemon Policy: Your product will be replaced should the same problem occur multiple times.
Convenient: Easy drop off and pick up of the product at any Long & McQuade location.
Guitar Setup: Guitars purchased at Long & McQuade come with 1 free setup, to be redeemed within 1 year for new guitars and 90 days for used guitars.
Loaners Available: A loaner product may be given while the product is being repaired.
Power Surge Protection: Your product is covered even if damaged from a power surge.
Accessory Coverage: Any peripheral devices or accessories that come with your product (i.e. foot pedal, case) are also covered.
Commercial Use Coverage: Music and recording professionals who purchase gear for “heavy-use” commercial purposes will still be covered.
Long & McQuade reserves the right to restrict the purchase of additional years of Performance Warranty. Used products come with a 3-month Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Some products (i.e. computers, software, cymbals and other items) are covered only by the manufacturer‘s warranty. Consumables (i.e. strings, reeds, drum sticks, batteries, tubes, cross faders) are excluded as they are designed to be replaced. Cosmetic Damage, Accidental Damage, or problems caused by Humidity or Temperature Issues are not covered. Speakers damaged by overpowering are generally not covered. Our coverage does not provide compensation for loss of use. As of June 2018 the Performance Warranty is no longer transferable. The warranty is only valid in Canada.
Purchasing additional years of coverage
Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year; however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient (but not necessarily longer) coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.
If you are interested in receiving this coverage for longer than one year, you have the option of purchasing additional years of the Performance Warranty. The pricing is as follows:
NEW products: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
USED products: 4% of the current new selling price to increase the warranty from 3 months to 1 year. 4% for each additional year.
GUITARS: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year. $45 maximum. An additional free setup is not included with additional purchased years of Performance Warranty.
BAND and ORCHESTRAL instruments: 4% of the current new selling price to double the warranty from 1 year to 2 years. 4% for each additional year.
